GEORGE 3 Is Here: From Test Drive To Jobsite

At January’s AI Test Drive class at World of Concrete, we gave the industry an early look at GEORGE 3.0. After a brief introduction, attendees explored GEORGE at hands-on stations in the Bronze Lot, with tablets in hand and masonry demonstrations in front of them. It was a chance to try the technology and consider where it could fit into their everyday work. A lot has happened since that afternoon. We’ve demonstrated our technology for OSHA and the Department of Labor several times, shown its practical applications on jobsites, and sat down with our members using GEORGE to talk about what they need.

A Simpler, Easier Approach

One thing we heard directly from members was that knowing where to start could be a challenge. They had a task in mind, but figuring out how to get GEORGE to help wasn’t always obvious. That feedback became an important part of the direction for 3.0.

GEORGE 3.0 is here, and making it easier to get to work is a big part of this release.

Part of the inspiration comes from the office suites many of us use on our computers: different tools, each with a purpose, brought together in a familiar place. GEORGE’s home screen puts its tools in front of you by name, with filters for safety, analysis, training, and communication. You can open an assistant directly and choose how you want to use it.

GEORGE 3.0 brings its tools and Recent Projects together on the home screen.

Mode selection puts the most common uses for these tools within easy reach, so you can jump into the task you came to do. Choose a mode, and GEORGE gives you a starting point for that work. The classic chat experience is still available in most cases, so you can also ask questions and work through a task in conversation.

Recent Projects gives you a place to return to earlier work. You can reopen a conversation and continue it when you have more information or need to revisit the subject.

The Next Generation of Jobsite Tools

Think about the different needs that come up during a job. Someone in the field needs to communicate with a Spanish-speaking coworker. A foreman needs to document the day. The office needs to understand a condition affecting production. GEORGE brings tools for those situations into the same system. The four assistants below are just a few of the tools available in GEORGE.

GEORGE is here to help people, not replace them.

The tools can support your work, while your experience and judgment guide how you use the results.

PPE Monitoring

Review visible protective equipment through live video or photos.

I modeled PPE monitoring after a Twitch stream: video with a conversation alongside it. That format makes the tool feel familiar while GEORGE reviews visible protective equipment and flags potential issues for human review. Connected camera options are also in development, building on our jobsite demonstrations.

Restoration + Retrofit

Investigate masonry conditions and document what you find.

For Restoration + Retrofit, I took inspiration from a doctor talking with a patient and taking notes. That back-and-forth shaped an approach to asking questions, investigating a condition, and recording observations. Think about tracing signs of water intrusion and bringing the photographs and findings together for a report.

We’re partnering with Bosch to bring its D-TECT scanning tool into future Restoration + Retrofit work, with a preview planned for our Nowhere to Hide class at World of Concrete.

Spanish Translations

Translation for spoken conversations and written material.

The live translation option is especially useful with Bluetooth earbuds, bringing translated speech to the device someone is already wearing. It’s a practical way to explore how GEORGE can help with everyday conversations between English- and Spanish-speaking coworkers.

Daily Log*

Talk through the day and build a record of the work.

A guided interview with voice input helps a foreman capture what happened on the job, from work completed to delays and deliveries. The goal is a useful daily record that’s easier to put together and ready for you to review.

The GEORGE App And What’s Ahead

This is what building technology for and by the masonry industry looks like in practice. We began work on the system that became GEORGE almost five years ago. Contractors bring us problems. Users tell us what makes sense and what needs work. We take the technology into classrooms, meetings, and jobsites, then keep developing it around what we learn.

That work has taken us into an OSHA conference room with an actual masonry sample wall and scanning equipment, and onto a Baltimore jobsite to demonstrate our technology for OSHA leadership. We’ve had the opportunity to show what we’re building, explain why it matters to masonry, and discuss where it could go next.

HEARTH grew out of that same willingness to tackle a problem. During a meeting in North Carolina, OSHA leadership challenged us to develop a solution to the proposed heat rule, which we believed was oppressive and unreasonable. That challenge helped give rise to our patent-pending HEARTH system, including predictive break recommendations customized to the individual wearer.

Coming next

There’s more coming. GEORGE 3.1 will be the next public update and the first release as apps for iPhone, Android, iPad, macOS, and Windows. We’re targeting app availability before the end of 2026. Alongside that release, we’re developing HEARTH’s integration into GEORGE, connected PPE cameras, Wall Bracing Vision, and Bosch-assisted Restoration + Retrofit for hands-on preview at World of Concrete.

Nowhere To Hide Class At The World of Concrete

Our Nowhere to Hide class will give you a hands-on preview of that work and a better understanding of how to use GEORGE and MCAA’s technology offerings.

Join us January 19, 2027, from 1–4 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center, with activities planned in the Bronze Lot and at Bosch’s booth. The Bosch booth portion will give you a closer look at the scanning work and what we’re developing for Restoration + Retrofit. Visit convention.masoncontractors.org for details.

Please note that GEORGE and the Assistants within the GEORGE AI ecosystem are currently in beta. They are designed to showcase potential capabilities, and their outputs are examples that should not be relied upon without human review and/or modification. As GEORGE AI progresses beyond beta testing, the information will become more reliable and trustworthy. AI isn't perfect, so we always recommend a human look over outputs before use. If you encounter any issues or challenges, please contact the Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) at 800-536-2225. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us continuously improve. By using this application you acknowledge that you understand and accept these terms.
