Dee Brown Names Barnes as President, COO

Words: Deena BoweDee Brown, Inc. promoted Robert V. "Rob" Barnes III to the position of president and COO. Barnes follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, DBI Founder Dee Brown, and father, Buddie Barnes, current chairman and CEO.

Barnes began his career in DBI Project Management nearly 19 years ago, and then spent a number of years in estimating and marketing.

Rob worked summers during high school in field operations, and college part time with various aspects of project administration. In 1992 he began full time and has four and a half years in project management, and ten and one half years in Estimating and Marketing with 7 and a half years as Vice President of Estimating and Marketing. In 1999, he was promoted to VP, estimating and marketing, and then executive VP in January 2006. In January 2007 he became responsible for all aspects of Construction.

Barnes has an MBA from Southern Methodist University and an undergraduate degree from John Brown University in Business Management, with a minor in Construction Management. Rob currently serves as the President of the Texas Masonry Council and is active in the community.
