The Masonry Skills Challenge consists of masonry apprentices in first, second, and third-year levels showcasing their training in masonry by competing against winning apprentices from various regions. The contestants put their skills to the test as they complete a surprise project without any preparation or assistance. Awards are presented to the top three projects at each level.

Please Note: Contestant registration for the 2023 Masonry Skills Challenge must be from an apprentice who has won a regional competition or has been approved by the MCAA.

The 2023 Fastest Trowel On The Block Presented By Best Block promotes workmanship, speed, and craftsmanship in masonry. Journeyman masons, accompanied by their choice of tender, compete against one another in a high-speed, 20-minute challenge. Each contestant's goal is to complete as much of a 30-foot-long wall as possible, using 8"x8"x16" CMU and mortar. The contest rewards the winning team for their hard work and dedication.

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, MASONRY MADNESS® Day Competitions will take place at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas. The MCAA's Masonry Skills Challenge, MCAA's Fastest Trowel On The Block Presented By Best Block, SPEC MIX TOUGHEST TENDER®, and SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® will take place in the Bronze Lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
