Master Masonry Marketing - Here’s How

Marketing for any type of business is one of the most crucial parts of operating a company. Sometimes the thought of marketing is overlooked because businesses are too focused on the operational aspects, but in reality, marketing is just as important. No marketing = no customers = no business. Finding a way to market, especially for companies with many competitors, can be a challenge. Utilizing the following tips, tricks, and techniques will hopefully make the journey a bit more manageable.

Not Only Knowing Your Brand Image But Being Your Brand Image

The most successful and well-known businesses have a strong brand image that every person (consumer or not) is familiar with. For example, we all know the following companies below even though their name is not listed anywhere.

This is because these businesses have a strong brand image. They have a consistent font, color palette, and logo. This allows them to be easily recognized and allows consumers to feel more familiar and comfortable with the brand. Being able to emotionally connect with someone makes the difference between them becoming a consumer or not. Everyone wants to feel like the businesses they support are catered toward them specifically, no matter if they are spending $1 or $100,000. This is no different for a contracting company either.

If the answer is “yes,” you’re on the right track! If the answer is “not quite,” here is a list of a few more things to implement that will hopefully change your answer.

Brochures: Sometimes potential customers do not know what questions they want to ask. Providing a brochure with photographs of previous work and essential information will be very beneficial. This shows the potential client what they can look forward to if they decide to progress with working with your company and provide them with the answers they didn’t know they needed. Brochures are easy to carry around, and you can leave them relatively anywhere, making them a great marketing tool.



Trade Shows: Shaking hands has always been one of the most beneficial sales tactics there is. Being able to converse with someone in person is ideal for creating intimate and meaningful connections. You and your team should make it a priority to attend trade shows that relate to the construction industry. This would be the ultimate way to network. Signing up and going to a few trade shows a year can greatly grow your business and is a perfect way to meet potential clients in the field.



Personality: People love to feel like they have a personal relationship with the businesses they work with. Whether your company’s personality is serious and corporate, sarcastic and laid-back, or friendly and warm, having a brand persona will leave a positive impact on your potential client and be a great tool to utilize. You can present this persona through social media platforms and anywhere your company may post content. It may take time to find your company’s persona, but it will be worth it when you see clients rushing through the door because they feel that personal connection they are craving.

Social Media: Social media is one of the most popular ways of marketing nowadays. As of today, there are roughly over five billion people on social media (Chaffey, 2025). When it comes to your company’s socials, you should post previously completed jobs, upcoming events, and information about the goods/services your company offers. Social media is a free tool to promote your business, so use it!

Making Your Own Website

Create a website! There are plenty of website-building platforms to choose from - WIX, Shopify, Squarespace, Hostinger, and more. Having a website for your business not only creates a more professional look but gives potential clients somewhere to find you. You will want to fill your website with high-quality photographs of previously completed jobs, professional headshot photos of your team, positive customer testimonials, contact information, and social media links. Making sure to prioritize your “look” is pertinent, as this will be the first thing someone sees when they see your advertisement, look up your website, or glance at your business card. Making sure all key visual aspects of your business coincide with one another allows it to look and feel more complete to the viewer.

With corresponding colors, shapes, fonts, and persona, it is easy to tell you are looking at a 3PLS post, even if the name was not physically written on it. This goes for all visual aspects relating to the company, including flyers, business cards, social media posts, websites, brochures, and merchandise.



There Will Always be Competition

As stated, you are never going to be the only one providing a specific good or service to someone. Competition will always be peering around the corner, whether you like it or not. The only thing that differentiates companies who end up successful from those who fail is the way the business deals with these setbacks. If you do not care if other businesses do better than you, you are destined to fail. No one knows your customers better than you do, so take advantage of that. Promote toward your target market and come up with ways to differentiate yourself from other companies in the industry. Whether you specialize in something niche that not every other business does, or you hold customer relationships differently, make sure to stand out and promote your successes.

Marketing any type of business takes time, and it is important to be patient and accept the ebbs and flows. There is a lot of competition in the construction industry, so one of the most important takeaways is to stand out and not be afraid to try new things. Create and be proud of your brand image and network like there is no tomorrow. You have endless tools to utilize in order to better your business, so do not be afraid to use them.
