Masonry Institute Honors Washington Architects
Recipients of the awards were: Werner-Dyer & Associates; Hugh N. Jacobsen: Robert C. Smith; Duane & Lawrence; McLeod & Ferrara; and Donald J. Olivola.
The guest speaker was Mr. William Finley, Director of the National Capital Planning Commission, who entranced the audience with his slide illustrated presentation of the Year 2000 Plan for the Greater Washington Area. Mr. Finley emphasized the urgency of meeting the predicted population multiplication with properly planned and controlled satellite growth. He presented several alternate possibilities, but strongly favored the controlled growth along radial transportation corridors.

WASHINGTON, D. C. Six architectural firms have received awards. outstanding architectural applica ns of unit masonry from the sonry Institute, Inc. of Washington, D. C. The presentations were made during a banquet honoring the winners, on May 23rd at the Shore- ham Hotel. Over 175 architects and members of the Institute attended.
Re-elect Will President AIΑ
Phillip Will, Jr., principal in the Chicago and White Plains, New York, architectural firm of Perkins & Will was re-elected president of the Ameri can Institute of Architects at the re- cent annual convention in Philadelphia.
Other officers re-named were: Henry L. Wright, Los Angeles, first vice- president; James M. Hunter, Boulder, Colorado, second vice-president; J. Roy Carroll, Jr., Philadelphia, secretary; and Raymond 8. Kasdenieck, Gary, Indiana, treasurer.
