MCAA CHAPTERS LEAD THE WAY

Each of these publications is outstanding and the Chapters deserve the highest of praise for their efforts in making this factual information available to the Industry.


DOUGLAS MOTORS EXPANDS

Douglas Motors Corporation, a thirteen year old Milwaukee firm producing plaster and mortar mixers, concrete mixers, snow plows, snowblowers, and small road rollers, has announced the purchase of the Rice Pump & Machine Company, of Belgium, Wisconsin, makers of a well known line of diaphragm, trash and self priming centrifugal pumps and masonry cutters for the construction industry.

This is a step in the expansion program of Douglas Motors. Rice Pump & Machine Company, will continue to manufacture in its 14,000 square foot building at Belgium, Wisconsin, and will operate as a division of Douglas Motors. No changes are planned in either personnel or production levels at the Belgium plant.


People & Events

Paul Johnson, deputy director of NSCPRF, will yield his post as president of the American Ceramic Society after he presides as the organization's 66th annual convention April 18-23 in Chicago. Robert E. Williams has been promoted to assistant director of manufacturing of Koehring Co. J. A. Hanson has been appointed manager of the Products and Applications Development Section in the Portland Cement Association's Research & Development Division. Approximately one hundred architects, engineers, members and guests attended the Arizona Masonry Guilds' February Informational Meeting held in Tucson. Natco Corp. will spend $1.7 million in a major modernization and expansion program at its Cordova, Alabama plant. Chairman Roy Shipley stated that "when completed, the plant will be the most modern of its type in the country for the manufacture of a complete line of glazed and unglazed tile and brick."

Alan S. McClimon was recently appointed assistant director of marketing for the Koehring Co., Milwaukee, Wis.. Stone Conveyor Co., Inc., Honeoye, N. Y., has announced the appointment of two Vice Presidents, each to head the company's primary divisions. Bruce Haywood has been named Vice President and general manager for the firm's Engineered Products Div. with John L. Spencer, Vice President of the newly organized (Continued on page 18)
