Earthquake Report
Denver's strongest earthquake to date-a 5.8 reading on the official Richter scale failed to ruffle the 17- story Park Mayfair East apartments. The reinforced brick walls (11-inch grouted) showed no signs of strain or damage, according to SCPI Region 12 Director Donald A. Wakefield.
One Park Mayfair tenant enjoying a bath during the quake's height was alerted to it by sudden ripples in the water. That's all.
The building survived another quake several months ago, and engineers Hanson and Sallada are said to be quite pleased with their structural system.
