Dow Chemical
Dow Chemical will also expand into selling construction products from other manufacturers. The new company projects initial annual sales in excess of $20 million, and expects to have over 100 employees and commission agents by the end of 1971. According to president and general manager R. C. Warner, Amspec is the only company in the country engaged solely in nation-wide specification marketing and technical service for the construction industry.
Initial sales efforts will be concentrated in five highly technical market areas: low temperature space insulation for food processing, storage and distribution facilities; roofing; industrial pipe and vessel insulation, especially in the chemical processing and liquid natural gas industries; insulation, sheathing and masonry products for commercial/residential building: and insulation of animal confinement and crop storage buildings for the agricultural building market.
"Amspec will begin business with 80 salesmen positioned throughout the country," Warner noted. "Each man will specialize, committing himself to understand thoroughly one aspect of the construction industry. Each will be backed up by our technical staff in Columbus. We'll work directly with builders, contractors, architects and fabricators to provide expert technical service for the design and installation of the products we sell."
The company is now operating from headquarters at 1880 Mackenzie Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43220. By late spring. Amspec sales offices are expected to open in Atlanta, Boston, Cherry Hill, N.J., Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Columbus, Clifton, N.J., San Francisco, and St. Louis.
