NADD Report
By: Jeffrey L. Brock
Washington, D.C.-Individual NADD members are having a very active year, and some of our chapter activities are also quite prominent.
Holman Brick has moved from Des Plaines, III. and built a beautiful new showroom and yard in Schaumberg. This new facility is completely paved and capable of unloading several rail cars at one time. Also adjoining these new offices is a three-bay garage to handle any maintenance problems and service that the fleet of fork lifts and delivery trucks may require.
Our Chicago Chapter is in the initial stages of starting a consumer advertising program as well as working out joint promotional efforts with other local groups in the Chicago area.
The Northeastern Ohio Chapter has been doing a fine job this year, and their programs reflect the amount of hard work and effort each member has devoted to making the chapter successful. Currently the chapter is conducting a series of NADD educational meetings.
Another active group is the Michigan Chapter. Current plans revolve around the Michigan AIA Convention and obtaining a display booth to represent our portion of the structural clay products industry. This chapter is also in the early stages of a joint promotional effort with various local groups such as SCPI and the Masonry Institute of Michigan.
It is also encouraging to note that our Philadelphia Chapter is getting into the swing of things and has tentative plans for a regional product seminar around May to provide needed activities and support for the eastern segment of our Association.
The support of these local groups continually makes it evident that associations do serve a special function. The cooperative response of these people in the same business to their needs for information, protection and advancement helps the association meet its goals.
TCMA Progress Report
The Texas Concrete Masonry Association is currently featuring, through a very effective promotional effort, a Progress Picture report of the Dallas Convention Center Ramada Inn. Walls and floors for this 12-story hi-rise concrete masonry hotel were erected in record time-64 working days. Mason contractor for the project was V.E. Emory, Inc. (MCAA), Dallas.
