New Editions of PCA Literature and Slide Set Catalogs

Updated catalogs of Portland Cement Association literature and slide presentations are now available from PCA.

The 1975 edition of Cement & Concrete Reference Catalog, MS254.04G, lists a careful selection of PCA technical and semitechnical literature of value to cement, concrete, and concrete products producers; engineers; architects; farm and home owners; educational institutions; and government agencies. It also contains information on PCA computer programs for the analysis and design of concrete structures.

PCA Slide Set Catalog, 1975, MS263.02G, lists more than 200 slide presentations for sale to members of the construction industry and related professions, government agencies, educational institutions, and the general public. Developed by PCA's staff and member companies for presentations to construction industry groups, they include 35-mm, color slides and either narration, lecture notes, or slide descriptions, as listed.

In Memoriam

CARL D. FRANKS

Carl D. Franks, past-president of the Portland Cement Association and a pioneer in the development of concrete roads throughout the Midwest, died April 10 in Chicago. He was 86. Private services were held in Kendallville, Ind., his birthplace.

Mr. Franks joined PCA in 1916, the year of its formation, as a district engineer. He was the first man to advance through the ranks of the association to the presidency.


Cash Allowance Plan Announced by M-F

A major cash allowance program for buyers of its industrial and construction machinery has been announced by Massey-Ferguson, Inc., Des Moines, Ia.

Donald L. Douglass, vice president/ marketing. North America, said the plan allows cash allowances of from $200 to $3,000 on most models of M-F industrial and construction machines. He called the program an "aggressive move on Massey-Ferguson's part to strengthen our position in the market place for all of our products prior to an expected upturn in the economy in the second half of 1975."


Gordon Honored As Top Graduate

Ron Gordon, right, top graduating student of the British Columbia Vocational School, Burnaby, B.C., receives the Clay Brick Associataion Golden Trowel from Peter Zirpke, President, CMCA British Columbia & Yukon Chapter. Ron is employed by his father, owner of Western Masonry, and plans to continue in the business. Chapter President Zirpke also presented Ron with a check from the CMCA Chapter.
