Richardson Appointed

IMI Staff Engineer James F. Buck Richardson, Jr., 29, has been appointed Director of the newly established Masonry Engineering Department of the International Masonry Institute (IMI) in Washington, D.C., it has been announced by IMI Executive Director Neal English. IMI is a labor-management trust fund which serves as the promotion arm and resource center for the masonry industry in North America.

James F. Richardson, Jr. A 1969 graduate of the engineering college at the University of Nebraska, he was recently involved as a masonry engineer on construction jobs in Houston, Texas, Detroit, Michigan and Gulfport, Mississippi. Richardson is now on the job at IMI working on a number of national, technical concerns of the industry such as energy conservation, fire-safe construction and new systems involving masonry construction of all types.

Much of his work involves compiling masonry engineering data from local and national associations and other sources in Canada and the U.S. The information will evolve into technical data for IMI's growing promotion and advertising campaign, and into design aids and counsel made available free-of-charge to architects, engineers, owners, investors, builder-developers and others.
