GSA Names Chambers

Terry Chambers of Alexandria. Va.. has been named deputy administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration in charge of overall day-to-day operations.

Chambers was appointed by Administrator Jack Eckerd to the second-highest ranking position in the 38,000-employe agency. GSA is the business arm of the federal government, in charge of civilian housing and supply needs, records-keeping, communications, and continuity of government in time of disaster.

"We are most pleased to have Terry Chambers on the new management team here at GSA," said Eckerd. "We will depend heavily upon him as the chief line officer in making this agency more efficient in carrying out its support role for the other departments of the federal government."

Acquisitions

Bend Industries, Inc., West Bend, Wis., a multi plant manufacturer of concrete masonry products, has recently acquired A A Distributors, Inc., Andrews Roofing and Siding. Inc., and Fond du Lac Concrete Products Corp., according to Fred Yahr, President. A A Distributors is a wholesaler of building materials, primarily roofing, siding, and metal building products, to applicators and dealers in Southeastern Wisconsin. Andrews Roofing and Siding is a contracting firm specializing in the sales, application, and installation of roofing and siding products, and aluminum doors and windows. Fond du Lac Concrete Products Corp. includes an overhead door division in addition to its concrete block production facility.

These firms will be operated as subsidiary companies of Bend Industries, Inc. Alan Graham, formerly with Concrete Products Corporation, Mishawaka, Indiana, has been appointed the new General Manager with responsibilities for manufacturing and sales at the Fond du Lac location.
