Ohio Masonry Promotion a Big Success
Pictured here are four of the many people who made the masonry promotion project at the 1977 Ohio State Fair a huge success. Shown (from the left) are Jerry Isenburg, engineer, Unit Masonry Association of Greater Cincinnati; Ed Fry, business Agent, Local #55, Columbus: Ralph Sandoz, secretary-treasurer, Ohio State Conference of Bricklayers, and Chet Baker, Columbus mason contractor.

The masonry promotion was a joint effort of the Mason Contractors Association of Columbus, the Ohio State Bricklayers JAC, the Brick Instiute of America, Region 4, and local promotion organizations throughout the state. With only three weeks notice of this project, these organizations put together the entire function, which included a 60 x 24 x 8 ft. masonry screen wall that was built to house the fairgrounds facilities. Commented J. James Murphy, executive director of the UMA of Greater Cincinnati: "This effort was exceptionally well received by the public as well as state officials and proves what can be done when people with a keen interest become concerned and cooperate with one another."
