In the election of regional vice presidents, MCAA Arkansas state chairman D. T. Allen of Newport, Ark., was elected to head Region F, succeeding Gerald Sutherland. Region F encompasses the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
Reelected as regional vice presidents were: Anthony J. Zotollo, Region A: Paul Clements, Region B: Richard C. Matthews, Region C: William C. Dentinger, Jr., Region D; Richard C. Felice, Region E: Blaine Warner. Region G; Oscar F. Person, Region H: L. C. Pardue. Jr., Region I, and William J. Young. Region J.
MCAA's 1980 International Masonry Conference and Educational Trade Show, it was announced, will be in Dallas. Texas, at the new Loews Anatole Dallas. February 22-28. The recently opened luxury hotel is a showcase of masonry construction and promises to be of keen interest to MCAA Members. The mason contractor on the 1,001-room facility was long-time MCAA Member Dee Brown of Dallas.
The second of two MCAA Executive Board Meetings originally scheduled for the following morning was moved up and conducted immediately after the Annual Meeting.
Lead Man Awards Presented at Banquet
MCAA's major social event of the year the Annual Banquet and Dance was held Tuesday evening in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott and featured the music of Ray Eberle's orchestra as well as superb entertainment. As in years past. MCAA executive vice president George A. Miller acted as master of ceremonies for the introduction of MCAA officers and regional vice presidents and their wives. Then, to the surprise of everyone, he announced that three Lead Man Awards-MCAA's highest tribute-would be presented to worthy individuals for their dedicated service to the Association and the masonry industry. Those honored were:
Robert Ebeling, for his outstanding contributions as immediate past president of MCAA and for the progressive programs initiated during his administration. He also was recognized for his untiring efforts on behalf of the entire manpower program of MCAA. especially in those areas connected with the International Masonry Apprenticeship Trust (IMAT), which he serves as chairman.
Richard Kacena, whose firm, Anchor Manufacturing Co. of Chicago, was one of the first to exhibit at the MCAA Educational Trade Show and has not missed a year as an exhibitor. He was additionally acknowledged for his company's financial support of the MCAA Ladies Program as well as his membership activities.
Leo Nazdin, director of the Department of Jurisdictional Disputes, Laborers' International Union of North America, Washington, D.C., for his unfailing cooperation on behalf of the masonry industry in securing the proper work assignments for those engaged by mason contractors, and for his department's support of MCAA Members when involved in jurisdictional disputes.
The Annual Banquet officially closed the formal activities for MCAA's 29th International Masonry Conference & Show. Planning will soon begin for the 30th Conference in Dallas, Texas, February 22-28, 1980.
