Three new officers have been named by the board of GREFCO, Inc., Los Angeles-based, international producer of insulation and filtration products. Richard S. Funk, formerly vice president & general manager, was elected president of the company, succeeding Joseph E. Moran who recently retired. Jeffrey F. Lang, general manager of the Dictalite Division, was elected a vice president. John E. Hartshorn, president of GREFCO's parent General Refractories Co., was named board chairman.
The Masonry Institute of Oregon has introduced a sparkling new publication called "Quoin Corner." It is dedicated to the "better understanding of brick, block, tile and stone building design and craftsmanship." Institute executive director Tom Young is editor of the new promotional arm.
David H. Abbott, executive vice president. JI Case Co., has been elected to the board of directors of the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association. William B. Hoffman has been promoted to president of the Cement Division, National Gypsum Co., Dallas, Texas. He succeeds Richard E. Gill, who is retiring after 43 years with the company. James N. Reinhardt, a principal of Anderson/Reinhardt Ltd., is the 1979 president of the Hawaii Society, American Institute of Architects. Norton Co., Worcester, Mass., has named two executives to top positions in its abrasive operations-William P. Densmore, to vice president, abrasive operations, U.S. and Canada, and George S. Reichenbach, to vice president & general manager, materials division.
John Chomiak of Edmonton, Alta., has been installed as president of Construction Specifications Canada. He is director & vice president of business development/marketing for Vinto Engineering Ltd., one of Western Canada's largest consulting mechanical engineering firms. David E. Coay, executive vice president of Hollywood Land Co. and division president of Mack Industries, has been elected president of the Florida Concrete & Products Association.
A tip of the hat to Henry J. Kaufman & Associates, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Washington, D.C.-based firm handles advertising and public relations for the International Masonry Institute (IMI). The board of directors of Penn-Dixie Industries, Inc., New York, has elected William J. Scharffenberger president & chief executive officer of the company.
Proclamation Honors Brick Industry in North Carolina
Corb Garton, managing director of the Brick Association of North Carolina, proudly displays proclamation signed by Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. designating July, 1979 as Brick Industry Awareness Month. North Carolina is the number one brick producing state in the nation and produces 15 percent of all the brick manufactured in this country.
