Iowa Masonry Institute
Names Paterson Director
Bruce Paterson of Waukee, Ia., has been appointed the first executive director of the Masonry Institute of Iowa.
A graduate of Drake University with a degree of business administration, Paterson began his work career in 1948 with Des Moines Clay Co., a brick manufacturer with which he was active in sales, production and management.
He is a member of the Iowa Engineering Society and Des Moines Engineers Club, and has served on several advisory committees for bricklaying classes at Iowa area colleges.

Sales Functions
The marketing and sales functions of Huntington/Pacific Ceramics. Inc. have been shifted from Santa Fe Springs to Corona, Calif. The company markets Mini-Brick, architectural brick, and Huntington ceramic tile to the building industry.
IMI Ads Capture
Magazine Award
The International Masonry Institute's 1980 advertising campaign has won an AdAward from Progressive Architecture magazine. IMI was one of 34 winners among the 536 ads that were judged.
Each ad was evaluated on the basis of impact, information, design quality and recognition of specifier's interest. The IMI ads also appeared in Masonry throughout 1980 as well as in other professional and trade journals serving the architectural and construction fields.
The advertising/public relations agency handling the IMI account is Henry J. Kaufman & Associates of Washington, D.C.
Dur-O-waL Purchased
by Illinois Firm
Dur-O-wal, Inc., New York, N.Y., manufacturer of masonry wall reinforcement systems, announced it has sold its business and certain of its assets to Parker-Petrie, Inc., Lake Forest. III., effective January 2, 1981.
The new principals are Edwin C. Parker and R. Douglas Petrie, who have changed their corporate identity to Durowall, Inc. and established offices in the Tri-State Center. 2215 Sanders Rd., Northbrook, IL 60062, (312) 498-9010. The trademark Dur-O-wal will continue to be used by the new company.
N.Y. Masonry Institute
Appoints Staab Director
Donald A. Staab, a construction industry veteran, has been appointed executive director of the newly created Masonry Institute of New York City and Long Island, according to an announcement by the Institute's Board of Trustees and Advisors.
The Institute was recently established as a masonry industry promotion trust through the cooperation of management and labor in the greater New York area.
