Roger E. Priest has been elevated to vice president-division marketing for Bay State Abrasives, Anderson Operations and Felker Operations/Industrial, Westborough, Mass. Joseph A. Sickon has been sworn in as inspector general of the General Services Administration. John Jefferies has been promoted to general manager of Genstar's Western Stone Products, Modesto, Calif. The Construction Specifications Institute has bestowed its highest honor, lifetime honorary membership, on George N. Lavenberg, executive director of the Ceramic Tile Institute. Metropolitan Ceramics, Canton, Ohio, has appointed Scott R. Watson district sales manager covering southern Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. Leon "Zeke" Seneker has been named district sales manager serving Illinois and parts of Indiana and Kentucky for Preway, Inc.
"Brickwork In Italy"
Presented to lowa State
The Masonry Institute of Iowa, at its recent annual meeting held in Des Moines, presented the slide program, "Brickwork In Italy," to Iowa State University's Department of Design.
The slide program was photographed, scripted and edited by Prof. Ambrose M. Richardson, FAIA, of the University of Notre Dame, as an audio-visual project by the International Masonry Institute for use in architectural schools throughout the nation (Masonry, May, 1981).
Paul Skiles, partner in the architectural firm of Brooks, Borg & Skiles, made the presentation on behalf of the Masonry Institute. Accepting for the University was M. P. Brooks, professor and dean of the College of Design at Iowa State.
Reichert Leaves MCAU
Don Reichert has resigned his position as executive director of the Mason Contractors Association of Utah to join Interpace Corp. in a new post.
Reichert, who had served the association for the past three years, was presented a farewell gift during the MCAU's eighth annual summer outing at Wasatch State Park.
Petersen Joins Arizona
Masonry Promotion Staff
The newly created post of marketing director for Arizona's masonry construction industry has been assumed by S. W. (Sandy) Petersen, a public relations and advertising executive in Phoenix since 1973.
Petersen will direct advertising and promotional activities for the Arizona Masonry Guild and Masonry Industry Program of Arizona. He was public relations director and an advertising account executive with Owens & Associates for eight years prior to assuming his new position.
Building Trade Exhibition
to be Held in Singapore
What is being billed as the largest event of its type in Southeast Asia-SIBEX (Singapore International Building Exhibition '82) is scheduled for March 17-20, 1982 at the World Trade Centre in Singapore.
Running concurrently with SIBEX will be CONEQUIP (Asian Construction Equipment Exhibition), which will present the latest heavy-duty construction equipment and vehicles.
