MONDAY, February 21, 1983
Conference registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by MCAA Committee Meetings from 8:30 until noon. MCAA Regional Vice Presidents' Conferences will be held from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. The MCAA Executive Board meeting will start at 3:00 p.m. and run until all Association business has been concluded.
SPECIAL NOTE: The MCAA Committee Meetings and Regional Vice Presidents' Conferences are open to all MCAA Members who are sincerely urged to attend those sessions having special interest for them.
TUESDAY, February 22, 1983
MCAA's 33rd International Masonry Conference will officially start with the Opening Session at 9:30 a.m. President Don Leonard will preside and deliver his annual President's Report to the membership.
The featured guest speaker will be Dr. John Dunlop, former Secretary of Labor and presently the head of Harvard University's Graduate School of Business. Dr. Dunlop's presentation will concentrate on the nation's current fiscal and economic policies and the masonry industry's new Labor/Management Program Board.
Immediately following the Opening Session, MCAA Members will go directly to the President's Reception, which will culminate with the opening of the MCAA Educational Trade Show.
The MCAA Registration Desk will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, February 23, 1983
The Second Session of the Conference will commence at 8:30 a.m., with John R. Mock, AIA, F.SARA, president of the architectural firm of Hendrick & Mock in San Diego. A graduate of the University of Detroit with a degree in architectural engineering, Mr. Mock was bestowed the title of "Mr. Masonry" in 1974 by the Masonry Contractors Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties for his research in loadbearing masonry systems in highrise structures, one of his areas of expertise. He also serves as a consultant on highrise life safety systems and handicapped compliance for the California Hotel/Motel Association, and is a member of the Advisory Council to the Masonry Research Foundation.
Following this presentation, George Plumb, MCAA legal counsel, will give an update on jurisdictional matters facing the masonry industry.
Immediately afterward, MCAA members will be able to observe the ever-popular Masonry Industry Showcase, which will be presented on the grounds of the Town & Country Hotel complex. Some of the nation's leading manufacturers of masonry construction equipment will again put their machines through the paces in live demonstrations for the benefit of MCAA mason contractors. MCAA ladies, too, will find the Showcase to be extremely educational and a fascinating event to watch.
Following this demonstration, MCAA members will reconvene in the exhibit area and have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious buffet luncheon. The MCAA Trade Show will start at 12:00 noon and run to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday evening will feature a festive theme party, which will cap off the day's activities.
The MCAA Registration Desk will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
THURSDAY, February 24, 1983
The day will begin with a special breakfast in the Exhibit Hall, providing MCAA members the opportunity not only to enjoy the food but to visit the various trade exhibits from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., on the final day of the Show.
Two major meetings will round out the day's business activities the Annual Meeting, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the MCAA Executive Board Meeting, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Board meeting will be the final event of the '83 MCAA International Masonry Conference.
