Masonry Institute of Michigan Gives
Scholarships to Architecture Students
The Masonry Institute of Michigan has awarded three 1982 scholarships to students in the School of Architecture at Lawrence Institute of Technology, Southfield, Mich.
Winners of the $850 awards are: Donald J. Andreski, Sterling Heights, fifth-year student; Daniel R. Biber, Huntington Woods, fifth-year student, and Gretchen Rudy, Rosedale Park, Detroit, second-year student. Andreski is the second repeat winner in the six-year history of the program.
Two of the three scholarships are named in honor of prominent Detroit-area mason contractors Robert F. Ebeling, an MCAA past president, and James R. Snyder. The third scholarship is sponsored by the Masonry Institute.

The awards were announced by John A. Heslip, president of the Masonry Institute, and Karl Greimel, dean of the LIT School of Architecture. The awards are of equal value and are based on scholastic achievement.

More than 275 individuals attended three informative seminars on "Masonry Design/Steel Studs vs. Concrete Block Back-up Systems" sponsored by the Oklahoma Masonry Institute. The speaker for the program, which was presented in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Lawton, Okla., was Mark Hogan, structural engineer with the National Concrete Masonry Association. The audiences in all three cities were composed of architects, engineers, mason contractors, and concrete block as well as steel stud manufacturers.
