"TCI has been an excellent performer, with a well-
deserved reputation for versatile, high-quality products that
are ideally suited to do a particular type of job exception-
ally well." said Nielsen.
This is the fifth major acquisition made by the Gehl
Company since it began its present expansion in 1985, and
is by far the largest. Other acquisitions involved primarily
agricultural products.
Gehl's IC Group, established in 1986, offers five differ-
ent models of skid steer loaders and a full line of attach-
ments. In 1987 the company added five mini excavators
to the product line.
Pittsburgh Corning Expands
John L. Baldwin, president, has announced that Pitts-
burgh Corning Corporation will begin melting operations
in its new facility for PC GlassBlock products in Febru
ary. Full scale production is expected by late March. A
formal dedication at the Port Allegany plant is planned
for late Spring of this year.
According to Baldwin, modernization of the existing
PC GlassBlock products manufacturing plant was com
pleted in 1981, when Pittsburgh Corning announced it was
continuing the production of the product line in response
to increased architectural interest.
Since then, market demand has required expansion of
the older plant, which was completed in 1986. Baldwin
states that the operation of the totally new plant will al-
most double existing capacity, which should be more than
required for anticipated domestic sales growth in the next
few years. In addition, Pittsburgh Corning intends to ag
gressively pursue international opportunities for PC
GlassBlock products.
