'89 MCAA Conference Update
March 9-14, Tropicana Resort & Casino, Las Vegas
MCAA returns to Las Vegas on March 9-14, 1989 to celebrate its 39th International Masonry Conference at the spectacular Tropicana Resort and Casino after three previous visits in '74, '78 and '85. This is MCAA's first visit to the Tropicana, the "Island of Las Vegas," a totally renovated property that has doubled its facilities at a cost of over 70 million dollars. A brand new tower addition features 26,000 square feet of convention meeting space, with a 2,000 seat ballroom, which brings the hotel's total exhibit and meeting space to well over 100,000 square feet. The addition of a five acre water park behind the original 1,100 room guest tower and wings has now been supplemented by the second tower of 806 rooms. The Tropicana, long known as the "Princess of the Strip," is noted for its spectacular show, the Follies Bergere, and its challenging PGA championship golf course.
Special room rates have been negotiated with the Tropicana which should appeal to all MCAA delegates and attendees. They are $70, Single or Double, during our stay.
In addition, we have arranged with Delta and United airlines for their special convention rates.
BSI Joins MCAA for Las Vegas Conference
The Building Stone Institute (BSI) will join MCAA at its 39th Annual Masonry Conference at the Tropicana Hotel, March 9-14. Building Stone Institute (BSI), founded in 1919, is the American stone industry's trade association. It is a vibrant, creative and constructive, non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to excellence in the pursuit of its goals.
The main purpose of the Institute is to promote the greater use of every type of natural stone. A secondary purpose is to serve its member firms. To accomplish this, the Institute sponsors a wide variety of programs, publications and services.
Member firms are the world's leading quarriers, fabricators, dealers, distributors, importers, exporters and installers of every category of natural stone- bluestone, granite, limestone, marble, quartzite, sandstone, slate and specialty stones for every purpose.
