Consider the cost: A lengthy meeting of ten middle managers can cost more than $3,000 in pay, benefits and overhead. Keep it moving.
Limit the number of participants. Four to seven participants is the optimum number for effective communication, and there shouldn't be more than 12 people if at all possible.
Always evaluate the meeting. Ask people how they felt it went. Focus on the meeting process (how it went) rather than on the meeting content (what it was about). This will ensure that future meetings will build in value and results by incorporating the improvements and suggestions from previous meetings.

Inc. Seeks Fastest
Growing Companies
INC. MAGAZINE is seeking nominations for its annual list of fastest-growing private companies. Ranking is based on net sales over a five-year period. Focus will be on sales growth from 1988 through 1992. Net sales for 1988 must be no less than $100.000 and no higher than $25-million. Further, 1992 sales must be higher than 1991 sales.

A 20 year veteran of the concrete masonry industry, he's a past president of the Ohio Concrete Block Association and past-NCMA membership chairman.
