Making A Signature Statement
MANY sociologists have observed that the television set has now become the "family hearth" of our modern society. Most people, however, still view their fireplace as the family gathering place-even if the family only gathers there once a year, on Christmas eve.
With these family traditions, the fireplace is often chosen as the means of making a signature statement within the home. The crackling blaze has a truly universal appeal.
Brick, stone, concrete block, river rock, marble and other masonry products are more expensive than sheet rock and a coat of paint-but masonry adds warmth, drama and individuality to a room that plain old wall board can never approach.
Combined with the addition of built-in bookshelves, elegant wood moldings and reliefs, circular and cantilevered hearths, highly energy efficient stoves and inserts, and various other personal touches, the fireplace adds personality to a home and provides a setting that can be enjoyed the entire year.
