ARCHITECTURE

NATIONAL BANK
OF MILFORD

The National Bank of Milford, Ohio, chosen for durability and perceived value to the customer, won the Ohio Concrete Block Association's Excellence in Design award. White split face concrete block building uses white marble aggregate from Georgia combined with white cement. Architect was Gartner, Burdick, Bauer-Nilsen, Cincinnati, Ohio. Block supplier was Reading Rock of Cincinnati. Mason contractor was John Fishback, Batavia, Ohio.

HICKORY GROVE
BAPTIST CHURCH

ATKINSON, Dyer, Watson, designers of the 2600 seat Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, used brick in the fan-shaped building to add a human-scaled warmth and convey a sense of permanence to the church. Brick supplier was Charlotte Brick and general contractor was F. N. Thompson, both of Charlotte. Mason contractor was Glenn Sipe and Sons, Hickory, North Carolina.

TRUMP PALACE

FRANK WILLIAMS, architects for the 54 story Trump Palace residential tower in Manhattan's Upper East Side, decided to use brick for the building because it's used throughout the area and they wanted to use a compatible material. General contractor was HRH Construction, New York City. Mason contractor was LaSala Industries, New Rochelle, New York.
