Having served for the past two years as chairman of the Mason Contractors Association of America's Marketing Committee and as the President of the MCA of Michigan, Mariano DiGiovanni has been a quiet leader for the masonry industry. Through his leadership, he has pushed the national association into a more active role of promoting the masonry industry against competitive construction methods. The national MCAA has recently developed a campaign to effectively combat concrete tilt-up.

Having just completed four years as Region "D' Vice President for MCAA, Fred Kinateder has been on the forefront of promoting a stronger industry. As board director and past President for Mason Contractors Association of Milwaukee, Kinateder has worked toward establishing a consistent training program. In addition to his serving as director, Kinateder serves on the Chapters Labor Policy and By-Laws Committee.

Robert "Buddy" Barnes has been active for years serving as President of the local mason contractors association in Dallas, Texas. For nearly the past two years, Barnes has served as the MCAA representative to the Masonry Alliance for Codes and Standards (MACS) which is spearheading the industry's effort to write the masonry portion of the new International Building Code which will go into effect in early 2000. Barnes currently serves in an officer capacity of MACS by serving as its Treasurer.

Mario Catani, President of Dur-O-Wal, has served in a voluntary capacity for over two decades. He has served as chairman of the Masonry Standard Joint Committee and during that time, MSJC developed the ACI 530.1/ASCE 5 and ACI 530.1/ASCE 6. He has served on the MSJC for the past twenty years. For the past year, he has spearheaded an effort to develop a wallbracing standard and served as Chairman of the Wall Bracing Council. For nearly ten years, Catani has been a speaker at TMS, ACI, Masonry Expo, and MCAA seminars, volunteering his time and effort.
