National Masonry Career Day

The 1999 University Professors Masonry Workshop (UPMW) has been scheduled by The Masonry Society and other national sponsoring organizations. The workshop will take place on March 15 and 16, 1999 at the lilinois institute of Technology in Onicago. This is the most important event of the year for architectural and engineering educators who teach masonry courses or hope to incorporate masonry courses or portions of courses into their curriculum. By assisting educators in producing more knowledgeable young professionals the sponsors expect to increase the overal knowledge pool on masonry design, thereby making masonry the material of choice. As in past years, the 1969 UPMW will feature separate tracks for architects and engineers, as well as plenary sessions on construction, design, and solutions to common masonry problems. Those attending will have the opportunity in breakout sessions to share the newest deas in architectural and engineering education, to learn what resources are available for masonry education, to discuss research opportunites, and to get answers from some of the industry's most knowledgeable experts. Russell Brown of Clemson University will lead the engineering track and J. Patrick Rand of North Carolina State University will lead the architecture track.
