Educational & Governmental

Excellent craftsmanship and detailing are among the finest qualities of the first place project in the educational/governmental category. This project also has a fantastic combination of local indigenous materials. First place in the educational/governmental category was presented to University of Texas at San Antonio Downtown Campus, Phase II. Contractor: Shadrock and Williams Masonry, Inc., Saldana & Associates and Kell Munoz Wigodsky, Joint Venture architects.

The innovative use of CMU in a residential setting helped maintain the warmth and residential feel in the second place project in the educational/governmental category. The design of the project also created a community feeling. Second place in the educational/governmental category was presented to MCAS Miramar BEQ Project. Contractor: New Dimension Masonry, Albert C. Martin architects.

The use of masonry and limestone gave the honorable mention project in the education and governmental category a strong sense of authority. Judges described the project as exuding public prominence. Honorable mention in the education/governmental category was presented to The United States Courthouse. Contractor: Don Salyers Masonry, Inc. Sherman/Carter/Barnhart architects.
