MASONRY SHOWCASE REVIEW

Teers were able to see themselves on Orlando television from their hotels. After lunch, the architects returned to their symposium and the apprentices got down to business. For the rest of the afternoon, the apprentices and other volunteers worked diligently to complete the project in the one day allotted. These apprentices were working at a lightning pace and their efforts were greatly appreciated.

During that afternoon, Steven Fechino and the apprentices gave a small clinic to industry representatives on how to lay masonry. This "clinic" included Rashod Johnson of the MCAA, Rich Allen of the Brick Industry Association, and Brian Light of the Southern Brick Institute. The day ended with the placement of the concrete bond beams and cast lintels. When the last cast lintel was laid, everyone involved with the project signed their names to the lintel as a permanent reminder of their everlasting contributions to this home.

Steven Fechino and two apprentices teach Brian Light of SBI, Rashod Johnson of MCAA, and Rich Allen of BIA, what bricklaying is all about.

The MCAA would like to thank the following people and companies for their contributions and efforts in ensuring the success of this project:

Steven Fechino of WASCO, Inc. in Nashville, TN
