CLARK JOINS NCMA - CODES, STANDARDS AND NATIONAL ACCOUNTS
Charles B. "Chip" Clark has joined NCMA Staff to work in the building code and standards area. Additionally, Clark will manage the NCMA National Accounts program. For the last three years, Clark has worked for the Brick Industry Association (BIA) in building code development and is familiar with the details of the building code process. His experience will provide a smooth transition for NCMA and enable NCMA to have an effective representation in the industry. Clark is also an architect who will help establish relationships with designers of national accounts.
Clark received a bachelor's degree in Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and is a registered architect in the state of Maryland. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and has practiced as an architect for nine years on a variety of residential, commercial and institutional projects. As a project manager, his responsibilities included schematic, design development and construction document preparation as well as construction administration.
He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with a structural concentration from the University of Maryland and has recently become a licensed professional engineer in the state of Virginia. Subsequent to his architectural experience, he practiced as a consulting structural engineer an additional four years prior to his current position at BIA. His work focused on residential and commercial projects including design, analysis, drawing and specification preparation and construction administration.

GRANT CONTRACTING CO. FINALIST IN ST. LOUIS BUSINESS AWARDS COMPETITION
St. Louis, MO-Grant Contracting Co. is among the finalists in the Small Company division of the Eighth Annual Mississippi Valley family Business of the Year Awards, a competition conducted by Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Owned by Donald and Brian Grant, the Fenton, Missouri-based masonry construction company was founded in 1946. Several family members are active in the Grant Contracting Co.; the firm maintains a staff of approximately 50 employees.
The company's projects include the St. Gerard Majella Parish Main Hall, the Missouri Botanical Garden's Boxwood and Chinese Gardens, the Monsanto Research Center, the Compton Drew Learning Center, the St. Louis University School of Law, the St. Louis Children's Zoo, the Sheldon Concert Hall Annex and the Fenton River Chase.
The Family Business Awards honor Missouri and Illinois businesses in three categories, small (1-50 employees), medium (51-250 employees), and large (250-plus employees). Winning firms will be announced this fall.

DETROIT AREA MASON CONTRACTORS" ASSOCIATION GOLF OUTING
The 2001 Annual Detroit area. Mason Contractors' Association Golf outing attracted a record 170 golfers to Bay Pointe Golf Club in West Bloomfield on July 9, 2001.
