Boral Acquires Two Denver Businesses
Boral Limited announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire two businesses in Denver: Ready Mixed Concrete Company, a ready-mixed concrete, quarry and masonry business; and the assets of Owens Brothers Concrete, a ready-mixed concrete and quarry business. The combined acquisitions will be value creating. They will be EPS neutral in the first full year and EPS positive thereafter as the benefits of combining these businesses are progressively delivered. The businesses position Boral as the third largest concrete producer in the greater Denver metropolitan area. The assets include eight concrete batching plants, more than 120 trucks and tankers, three sand and gravel deposits and two concrete masonry plants. The combined operations will have annual production of approximately 600,000 cubic yards of ready-mixed concrete, 1.6 million tons of sand and aggregates and 7 million concrete masonry blocks. The concrete masonry business has a leading position in the architectural products segment and a strong retaining wall business. The aggregate reserves have a life exceeding 20 years based upon current production.

PCA Appoints Senior Vice President
Portland Cement Association (PCA) named Thomas J. Gibson as Senior Vice President, Government Affairs. He will head PCA's Washington office and represent the Association and its member companies before Congress, the Administration and the White House. Gibson comes to PCA with a wealth of experience in politics and environmental affairs including roles with government agencies, on Capitol Hill, the armed forces, and as an advisor to and within the private sector. Most recently he served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Previously, Gibson was the Associate Administrator for the EPA's Office of Policy, Economic and Innovation. Additionally, Gibson worked as Majority Deputy Staff Director and Majority Counsel from 1995-2001 for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. From 1993-1995, Gibson served private-sector clients in judicial, regulatory and legislative affairs with Don Clay Associates, Inc. He was with the EPA previously for two years as a congressional liaison specialist and the Raytheon Company for five years after service in the U.S. Navy from 1979-1985. Gibson graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University where he received his J.D. He holds a M.S. in marine affairs from the University of Rhode Island and a B.S. in naval architecture from the United States Naval Academy.

The Sealant, Waterproofing and Restoration Institute (SWRI) - an independent professional organization of over 180 leading commercial contractors, manufacturers and consultants recently validated the performance of three more Dow Corning products: Contractors Concrete Sealant (CCS), All-Guard Silicone Elastomeric Coating and 791 Silicone Weatherproofing Sealant.
