Thanks to everyone who stopped by the MCAA booth at the 2010 World of Concrete in Las Vegas and entered to win our "Free Flight from Southwest Airlines" contest. Congratulations to Keith Sommer of Pyramid Masonry Contactors Inc. in Orlando, Fla. His name was randomly selected to receive one roundtrip ticket aboard Southwest to fly anywhere within the continental United States. MCAA's Sixth Annual Online
Auction a Success

The MCAA held its sixth annual Online Auction March 16 to 18, 2010, at www.masoncontractors.org/auction.
Contractors were able to bid on several new, name-brand items for half the cost of retail including scaffolding, mortarboards and trowels. Bidding was fast and furious, but there could only be one winner for each of the great items. Many lots came down to the final seconds, making it an exciting auction for all involved.

Hydro Mobile Restructuring
Completed
Hydro Mobile's ownership has opted to reorganize the company under the Canadian Companies' Creditor's Arrangement Act, a procedure similar to Chapter 11 in the United States. A notice of intention was registered Oct. 20, 2009. Following that process, Hydro Mobile submitted a proposal to its creditors, which was voted on and accepted on Jan. 25. For all intents and purposes, the restructuring is now completed.
Parallel to restructuring the company, the shareholders started a process to solidify its capital base for the immediate and long-term perspective given the current economic environment. This process brought the shareholders to find the perfect fit for Hydro Mobile. The AGF Group, a Quebec-based company specialized in the production and installation of reinforcing steel, had started an incursion in the access industry and was looking to strengthen its position on the market. Considering this, the acquisition of Hydro Mobile represents a key strategic investment.
According to company president, Vincent Dequoy, "The arrival of AGF Group as the new owner of Hydro Mobile represents tremendous opportunities for both companies. Indeed, the financial backing and contacts brought in by our new part-
Jaffari Lauded for Sustainability Work
Shahnaz Jaffari, sustainability director for the Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute, has been honored with a 2010 Sustainability Champion Award. The award is for individuals who have gone above and beyond required duties in the creation and implementation of a program or initiative that has made a measurable contribution to the environment, the economy and society. It is sponsored by PAETEC, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Environmental Partnership, CORE and Colorado Business Magazine.
