Words: Dan KamysMortar Net USA Patents Improved Mortar Collection Device

Mortar Net USA Ltd., a producer of moisture management solutions for the masonry industry, has received a patent for its Mortar Net mortar collection device. United States patent 8,061,090 for an improved mortar collection device for cavity wall construction was issued on Nov. 22, 2011.

This improvement integrates an insect barrier with the mortar collection device that has been supplied by Mortar Net for more than 20 years in the unique dovetail shape and eco???green color. The insect barrier is a water-permeable material that allows Mortar Net to drain as effectively as it always has, while hindering insect penetration into the cavity of a masonry wall.

“The addition of an insect barrier to our mortar collection device provides additional protection to structures at very low cost to users," says Tom Sourlis, chairman of Mortar Net and the inventor of this improvement.
