The Utah Masonry Council's Masonry Education Day

The 2026 Masonry Education Day at Interstate Brick in West Jordan is bringing together members of Utah’s architecture, engineering, and construction community for a day focused on education, technical understanding, and workforce development.

The event reflects a broader effort within the masonry industry to connect design professionals, contractors, suppliers, educators, students, and apprentices with the materials, methods, and career opportunities behind masonry construction. Rather than serving only as a showcase, the day is structured to give attendees a practical look at how masonry systems are designed, manufactured, installed, and used in long-lasting buildings throughout the region.



A central component of Masonry Education Day is continuing education for design and construction professionals. The program includes two AIA continuing education classes: "Normalizing Delegated Design of Concrete Masonry" and "Built for Learning: Concrete Masonry and Resilient K-12 Schools." The sessions are expected to address practical topics such as project coordination, resilient design, and the use of concrete masonry in school construction.

In addition to classroom sessions, attendees will have access to hands-on demonstrations and a plant tour at Interstate Brick. These activities are intended to give participants a closer understanding of masonry products, production processes, installation practices, and the craftsmanship involved in completed masonry work.

The day will also include competitive events such as the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® and the Masonry Skills Challenge. These competitions provide a public view of the speed, accuracy, and technical skill required in masonry work, while also giving students and apprentices an opportunity to see experienced craftworkers and emerging talent in action.

For the Utah Masonry Council, the event serves as a point of connection between the professional design community and the skilled trades. It also supports ongoing conversations about workforce development at a time when construction industries continue to emphasize training, recruitment, and stronger pathways into technical careers.

Masonry Education Day is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 18, 2026, at Interstate Brick, located at 9780 S. 5200 W. in West Jordan.
