Looking Back, Moving On

How has the year 2008 affected you? This year's miserable economy seems to have touched everyone in some way, whether by a light tap on the shoulder or a strong punch in the face. So, as we move forward, let's truly give thanks for the intangible positives in our lives: our good health, our families and our determination to move on toward a better 2009.

My little blessing: Macy Julia
When I face challenges in my life, I first turn to my Faith for strength. Then, I quickly remind myself that, no matter the situation, thousands ??? no, millions ??? of men, women and children are suffering far more than I. I look at my healthy 2-year-old daughter, Macy, and I know I am lucky and blessed. I watch a television program on cable tv or simply take a hot shower, and I know I have little to complain about. I'm ahead of so many by merely having a roof over my head.

It's easy to feel victimized by everything that we've faced in our business environment during the last two years. But as Americans, we must continue to thrive and survive. No matter your views on the outcome of the presidential election, having respect for the office of the President is necessary. The needed next step for our economy is bipartisanship and some good, old-fashioned cooperation.

I hope we see an improved economy in the coming years. Moreover, I wish for you and your family good health and a joyous holiday season.
