The MSJC has proposed 2 errata to the 2008/2011 Editions of Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures.
The Masonry Standards Joint Committee (MSJC) has proposed 2 errata to the 2008/2011 Editions of Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures (TMS 402/ACI 530/ASCE-5). The MSJC is sponsored by the The Masonry Society (TMS), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (SEI/ASCE).

In accordance with the rules of The Masonry Society, and consistent with the rules of the other sponsoring organizations, proposed changes including technical errata to standardized documents are open for public comment for a period of not less than 45 days.

An error (oversight) was found in the 2008 MSJC that needs to be corrected because if it is misapplied, it would be unconservative and perhaps unsafe. As such, the existing MSJC balloted and approved a proposed errata. TMS TAC considered this errata and has approved it.

The second item attached is a much more minor item. It would apply to both the 2008 and the 2011 MSJC.

Comments from the public on the proposed errata will be accepted through April 14, 2012. Click here to submit comments on these errata via e-mail.
