TRUCO WHIPS CAST IRON 'TOUGHY,' 60 FEET DOWN
The men of R. E. Dailey Co., Detroit contractors, peered at the 1½" thick, cast iron gate valve retainer ring. It lay in a confined area at the bottom of the sewer, 60' below street level. Twelve equally spaced 14" holes had to be drilled so it could be fastened to existing studs in the gate valve. Each hole was accurately drilled in 5 min. with portable TRUCO Drilling Equipment. Set-up time per hole was 10 min. Only one TRUCO Diamond Bit was needed, and it was in extremely good shape when the job was finished. Such performance is why TRUCO Drilling Equipment helps YOU GET CONTRACTS.

What does it take in total-machinery-wise to serve the construction industry? The answer is found in the network of independent equipment distributor companies from coast to coast. Numerically small in comparison with suppliers in other industries, some 1200 distributors of machines for construction and related fields encompass a giant national resource with: inventories of more than $½ billion, consisting of $158 million in new equipment, $169 million in replacement parts, and $173 million in used equipment for sale or rental fleet. 9,000 salesmen-equipment engineers. 3,000 trained service men, on call 24 hours a day. Accounting for more than 45 million man-hours of shop and field service to keep contractor machinery in top condition. 200 parts specialists, maintaining ready inventories and expediting orders for million of dollars worth of equipment parts sold each year.
It adds up to annual distributor sales of $2.2 billion: $1,240 million in new equipment sales, $270 million in used equipment sales, $590 million in parts and supplies, and $200 million in rentals and service. These little-known facts are pointed out in a new brochure, "Partners in Profit," published by Associated Equipment Distributors, national association of distributor and manufacturer firms serving the construction industry.
