Publication Purchased
New York Simmons Boardman Publishing Corporation announced today that it has purchased WESTERN BUILDING from Pacific Builder & Engineering Inc. of Seattle and will merge it with AMERICAN BUILD-ER, effective with the May issue. WESTERN BUILDING, which was established in 1941, has a BPA audited circulation of 20,000 in the six Pacific states, eight Mountain states and Nabraska. It had announced suspension after the March issue while it investigated the possibility of publishing at some other frequency.
Doors & Frames Standards
Modular Building Standards Association announces plans for release of "Doors and Frames," the first in its series of 24 "Recommended Use Standards." Major distribution of this important text to over 53,000 architects, contractors, specifiers and others in the building industry will be made during this coming May.

Flight engineers have proved by exacting mathematics formulas that a bumblebee cannot possibly fly. This, these men say, is because the area of its wings is not properly proportioned to the size and weight of its body.
The bumblebee, however, doesn't know this, and goes ahead and flies away.
It's much the same with you and me. When there's a really tough job to do we seldom succeed if we go at it with the notion that it's unreasonable, too difficult, or that "it's just too big a job for me."
On the other hand, you can recall times when you tackled and finished a job, did it successfully and thought nothing of it, because nobody told you it was a "toughy." Where would this old world of ours be today if each of the thinkers and the doers of past years had fallen for the line that theirs was an unreasonable job, too difficult, or "just too big for me."
The mental attitude with which you and I attack our jobs has more to do with our success than anything other people may think.
