Koehring 535 Spanner with hydraulically-widened crawlers lifts walks with pre-cast concrete panels to be erected as archways of Mitchell Park botanical conservatory in Milwaukee, Wis. There will be 28 archways providing passage into and between the conoidal domes which will be climate-controlled and house three different types of exotic floral exhibits. Each panel requires an average of 3 yds. of concrete; the panels are 6 ft. deep and heights range from 10 to 20 ft.

Three-ton concrete panels are put in place with a Koehring Truck Crane which was also used to erect the three conoidal domes. Archways will help to maintain the controlled temperatures within the domes because the forms were pre-cast on styro foam lining insulation. Inside surfaces will be plastered; front and back panels are imbedded with aggregate form trim.
