Test Results
Vermiculite Institute of Chicago announces that the American Society for Testing and Materials has approved and issued Tentative Specification C 516-63T for vermiculite loose-fill insulation.
The specification covers the composition and physical properties of expanded vermiculite insulation when used in a temperature range of 50 degrees F. below zero to 1400 degrees F. above zero. It is not the intent of the specification, however, to limit use of the insalation to this temperature range.
Testing procedures for determining the acceptability of the material are given. Types 1, 2, 3, and 4 vermiculite are covered, as well as water-repellent verimalite.
The specification complements Federal Specification HH-1-585 issued in 1956.
New Ladders
Now dealers can sell two new promotional ladders rugged enough to earn the Underwriters' Laboratory's Seal. The two new numbers are manufactured by Newark Ladder Co., and they combine low price with quality-proven appeal.
Leading the twosome is the "Jet Aluminum Extension Ladder for homebuilders. It is crafted of high tensile, extra hard alloy with "C" structured siderails for strength. The "Jet" is priced as low as $.75 per ft. and comes complete with rope, locks, pulley and safety shoes.
Newark Ladder Co.'s second new mass seller is the "Rocket Aluminum Step Ladder, priced as lo was $1.50 per ft. Features include extra-wide safety steps, reinforced construction and light-weight portability for appeal to housewives, as well as to home handymen.
Concrete Saws
Six new concrete saws, ranging from 712 to 60 horse power, and suited to every concrete cutting need, have been introduced by OMARK INDUSTRIES, INC. and are now being marketed through the firm's 31 direct factory branches and sales offices across the U. S.
A new line of OMARK heavy duty concrete saws is headed up by the powerful 60 h. p. model OC-380. Other new heavy duty saws are the 37 h. p. OC-370 and the 30 h. p. OC-310.
All are self-propelled and are capable of cutting up to 25 feet per minute. Other standard features include a centrifugal wet-or-dry water pump with high capacity belt drive, open frame, all-welded construction and a micro-control on the transmission which insures accuracy and consistency in the cutting speed.
The new self-propelled 18 h. p. OC-190 is a smaller and lighter standard duty saw which incorporates many of the same outstanding features for easy operation and maintenance possessed by the heavy duty saws. A new type of transmission on this model allows high torque at low speeds, and permits direct drive for using all available power.
The OMARK OC-160 is identical to the OC-170 with the exception that it is powered by a 71½ h. p. fan-cooled high torque electric motor. This is a 3 phase, 60 cycle, 220-440 volt power unit, complete with thermal overload protection.

Air Tools
Champion has added a complete line of air tools to its product line-up for 1964, Gene Vocker, Champion general sales manager announced.
The new line includes rock drills, sump pumps, vibrators, paving breakers, diggers, tampers, cement hammers, nail drivers and grinders.
The new air tools will be sold by current Champion dealers who now handle Champion's other products, including masonry saws and blades, concrete saws and blades, heaters, hoists, concrete finishers, concrete vibrators, vibartory screeds and generators.
