Robert Ebeling, left, MCAA Education Committee Chairman, checks with Edward LeJeune, featured lecturer, before the start of the recent Masonry Estimating Course held in Dearborn, Michigan.
The MCAA moved its Masonry Estimating Course on the road and its first stop was Dearborn, Michigan. With thirty-four persons in attendance E. G. LeJeune did another outstanding job of presenting his method for masonry estimating. The course now moves back into Chicago to accommodate the overflow crowd who were unable to attend the May course. On September 17 and 18 the course moves into the East and Hartford, Conn. The Chicago dates are August 6 and 7 at the Sahara--O'Hare Motel with meeting Chairman Robert Harrison. The Hartford Course will be held at the Hotel America with David Sibbald Meeting Chairman.
Proposed Regulations
The U. S. Department of Labor has published for comment proposed regulations for the supervision of elections of labor union officers under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act. In essence, the rules formalize procedures applied in practice by the Department over several years.
The proposed rules, if adopted, will guide the Department's Office of Labor Management and Welfare-Pension Reports in supervising the conduct of an orderly and fair election under a Federal court order or where a labor organization agrees to effect compliance by voluntarily running a corrective election.
Principal responsibility for supervising such an election, according to the proposal, falls upon an Election Supervisor appointed in each case by the Director, Office of Labor-Management and Welfare-Pension Reports.
The proposed rules were published in the Federal Register on October 20, 1964. Interested persons are invited to submit their views or arguments on this proposal to the U. S. Department of Labor, Washington, D. C. 20210, within 30 days after publication.
