SKIL Catalog
With the establishment of its new Contractors Equipment Di-
ision, SKIL Corporation has pub-
shed its first construction equip
nent catalog. Over 80 gasoline,
electric and air powered tools ap
bear in the fu'ly illustrated 32
age brochure. A complete line of
ccessories for these tools is also
sted.
Concrete vibrators-most with
wigh cycle motors that provide ig
wition with three times the speed
and power of ordinary 60 cycle
systems-lead the list of new
SKIL contractors tools. Over 20
motor-in-head and flexible shaft
nits are available in a full range
of head sizes. They handle a wide
ange of vibrating jobs from slabs
massive concrete structures.
SKIL's new gasoline-driven Mo-
el 628 Roto-Hammer with three-
way action permitting hammering
with rotation, hammering without
otation, or drilling alone is de
scribed. Other tools in the catalog
nclude gas and diesel operated
enerators to satisfy universal or
igh cycle current requirements;
oncrete finishing screeds; power
rowels; rammer and plate type
moil compactors; and paving
reakers.

Colored Sealant
Two new colors (Bronze and
Charcoal) have been added to the
stablished nine standard colors
black, white, aluminum, neutral
tone, buff, brick red, brown, red
wood/tan, off-white) of Mono-
asto-Meric, a durable, flexible
wonstruction joint sealant. This 1-
art acrylic terpolymer sealant is
sanufactured by The Tremco
Manufacturing Co. 10701 Shaker
Blvd, Cleveland, Ohio 44104.
Mono-Lasto-Meric, proved the
host powerfully-adhesive sealant
nown, eliminates hazards in high
most of job-site mixing; does not
equire primer or surface condi
oner; non-staining: high resist
nce to ultra-violet ray through

ithout adhesive or cohesive fail
re; withstands temperature ex
remes of 30 degrees F. to 200
egrees F. It is virtually mechanic
roof. Mono-Lasto-Meric is the
nly quick-skinning type sealant
which will re-seal or re-adhere on
contact, should moisture or dust
sterfere with its initial adhesion.
The practically colorless base
1 Mono-Lasto-Meric permits un
limited color matching without ex-
cessive pigment loading which of-
ten causes sealant failure. A dra-
matic colorcard showing eleven
standard Mono-Lasto-Meric colors
and four special colors is avail-
able. All colors are fast, non-
chalking, and resistant to weather
or chemical attack.
New Fork Lift
A new single axle drive, rough
terrain fork lift, with power and
performance comparable to four
wheel drive models, has been an-
nounced by Champ Corporation.
The new 6,000 pound capacity lift
truck, the 640 HLP, has been de
signed specifically for construction
work and the sure, reliable per-
formance often required on ex-
tremely muddy and sandy rough
terrain.
The added power for the new
640 is developed through a spe
cially adapted Planetary Drive
Axle with the low ratio of 19.5 to
1. The unique Planetary gear sys-
tem, develops full torque and pow-
er directly at the wheel hub. Drive
tires, 16:00 x 20, are the largest
yet used on a fork lift truck. Each
drive tire gives 229 square inches
of surface contact for maximam,
wide grip power traction.
The 640 HLP offers lifting to
30 with "free lift" design-per-
mitting the load to preceed the
mast structure to the full lifting
height. Other important features
include towability at high speeds,
Champ's patented "Levelizer" steer
axle, extra long tilt cylinders, fin
ger tip hydraulic controls, fluid
drive and heavy duty 12" chan
nel steel frame.

Aggregate Surfacing
Three major improvements in
the Finestone Aggregate Surfacing
system have recently been an
nounced by the Finestone Corpor-
ation. They are in areas which
further enhance the unusual and
aesthetic applications of the sur-
facing; eliminates the separate ap
plication of sealer and glaze; and
increases the wide temperature
range in which Finestone Aggre
gate Surfacing may be applied.
Finestone Aggregate Surfacing
may now be applied in even great
er density of the aggregate. This
opens up a great many more ar
tistic possibilities for the designer
to blend both color and texture to
achieve the ultimate in beauty.
This aesthetic improvement is of
paramount interest to architects.
Now, aggregate and seal-glaze
can be applied all in one applica-
tion. This is a major economical
improvement because it saves both
time and labor. Still further cost
reductions are possible because Central City, lowa. The transac

can proceed without interruption.
The new, improved Finestone
Aggregate Surfacing system per
mits practically all year round
application, Freezing and incli
mate weather is virtually elimin
ated as a deterrent to work. Even
in temperatures as low as 10 F
(that's way below freezing) ag
gregate surfacing may be applied
when other types of work are at
a stand still. This provides the
work force with more consistent
employment and means even more
savings in time.

gregate Surfacing system is avail-

New Fire Rating
Vermiculite Type-MK fire-proof
ing sprayed by machine directly to
steel has earned new fire ratings by
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.,
of Chicago, the Vermiculite Insti-
tute announces.
A four-hour rating was awarded
to a steel beam protected by Type-
MK vermiculine retardant only
one-half inch thick.
In another test, an assembly
with a composite steel floorr con-
sisting of 12 deep cellular and
futed units on a steel beam, top
ped with concrete, containing a
trench header, met the require
ments of the Standard for a period
in excess of two hours. The ver
miculite Type-MK was machine
applied 3/8" thick to the floor
sections. Immediately below the
trench header and extending 5"
on either side of it, the thickness
was increased to 7/8 below the
valleys of the fluted sections and
the flat portion. The composite
beam, protected with " of Type-
MK, sustained its applied load for
more than four hours of fire
exposure.
Concrete Pump
Koehring Company today ob
tained a line of concrete pumping
equipment from Concrete Place
ment Manufacturing Company,
The new line will be manufac
tured and marketed by the PCM
Division of Koehring Co., Port
Washington, Wisc.
Equipment for pumping struc-
tural concrete has become popular
in recent years as a replacement
for other, more costly techniques
of moving concrete from mixers.
or mix trucks to the pour site. H.
P. Muzller, Jr., PCM Division
president and general manager,
said that the newly acquired pump
will place concrete as high as a
twelve story building and as far
away as one-tenth of a mile. "In
most applications," he said, "ef-
fective pumping of concrete pro
vides a significant cost saving to
contractors."
Other products made by PCM
include concrete, plaster-mortar
and bituminous mixers; materials
handling equipment; pan or com
pu'sory-type mixers for concrete
or industrial applications; and
earthboring machines.
Lightweight Roof Slabs
Lightweight, reinforced con-
crete roof slabs with an excep
tional variety of features and at
low cost this describes the
new Tuflon roof s'abs distributed
and instal'ed by Silbrico Corpo
ration. Mr. Joseph E. Tomes,
vice president of Silbrico, recent-
ly anacunced the availablity of
the amazing now roof slabs which
were manufactured by the Illinois
Brick Company and distributed
excusively through Silbrico.
Tufon roof slabs are available
in standard sizes 2 ft. by 4
ft. for conventional 4 ft joist
spacing and 24 in. by 32 in. for
tu'b tee construction. Both of
thes convenient sizes are sup
plied in various thicknesses to
meet different insulation require
ments. All of these sizes are com
rorable in price with many of
the economy systems such as in-
su'ated metal decks, gypsum
decks and wood fibre decks.
The perlite aggregate concrete
which contains reinforcing steel
offers exceptional insulating qual
ities.
