Complete Conveyor System in 9 Days!
On Wednesday, June 11, 1969, at about 4 p.m., one of the larger clay pipe manufacturers in Indiana called Dover Conveyor & Equipment Co., Inc., Dover, Ohio, to say that part of their plant had burned down. The next morning, three of Dover's men arrived on the scene to see what could be done to get the plant going again.

Here is a case history report from Dover describing the steps taken to put the plant back into operation:

"Since only the grinding plant was destroyed with a short section of an outside conveyor, it was decided that they would get another producer to supply them with ground clay on the off-shift and bring it into the plant, bypassing the burned-out area. This required: 1) a 10 x 10 truck hopper; 2) a belt feeder, and 3) a 24" x 253' conveyor designed to go up and over the bad area. Several clear spans of 65' were required.

"Friday morning we began to work on the job. First, we had to design the conveyor, trying to use components which we had in stock. We had to design and fabricate the complete framework. Sunday night, June 15, the complete framework arrived at the plant. They immediately began installation, using our service personnel to supervise.

"On Thursday, June 19, the balance of the equipment arrived at the plant. Meantime, our men had replaced the bad portions of the existing outside conveyor, cut out the burned belt, and revulcanized it.

"Throughout this period and the week that followed, there was a lot of rain, slowing down operations and costing two days. They also didn't work Saturday or Sunday.

"On Thursday, June 27, the plant was running. A complete conveyor system was measured, designed, built, delivered and installed in 9 days from scratch!
