Rising HIGH in Manhattan
Architect: Emery Roth & Sons
Mason Contractor: Domestic Marble & Stone Co.
General Contractor: The Diesel Construction Co.
This 45-story office tower, which opened in New York City in January, features a facade that combines traditional masonry with contemporary aluminum and glass.
The Interchem Building, located on the Avenue of the Americas, on the blockfront between 43rd and 44th Streets, has an exterior of rough-hewn limestone accented by bronze-toned aluminum mullions and glare resistant amber glass.
Designed by Emery Roth & Sons and constructed by The Durst Organization, owner-manager, the tower is set back from the building line to create a 7,000-square-foot plaza. The lobby has a terrazzo floor and travertine walls, which will be complemented by the use of bronze for the elevator doors and appurtenant metal work. The plaza will be surfaced with textured black granite.
The Interchem Building's 800,000 square feet of rentable space features the latest improvements in light, sound and climate control.
Mechanically suspended acoustical ceilings throughout the building contain prismatic lighting and an interior zone air diffusing system. The four season climate conditioning is zoned and controlled to meet the variable temperature and air volume requirements of all office areas.
