Star Welding Outfit
Smith Welding Equipment, Division of Tescom Corporation, Minneapolis, Minnesota, announces a new combination cutting and welding outfit, called the Star 98. The new 8-piece combination outfit contains torch body, three welding tips, cutting assembly, cutting tip, oxygen regulator and fuel gas regulator.
The torch body included in the Star 98 is a popular Silver Star model which has a 1/32 inch to 1 inch and over welding range. The three copper welding tips feature Smith's exclusive "soft" flame for improved puddle control. The combined welding capacity of the three is 1/16 to 3/8 inch steel.
The Star 98 also includes a Silver Star cutting assembly which has a 6 inch cutting capacity. The cutting tip has replaceable soft seats. Cutting range of the tip is ½ to % inch steel.
The oxygen regulator is a single stage. Provides a 0 to 100 psig delivery pressure range and a maximum inlet pressure of 3000 psig.

Morgen Articulating Boom
The first major change in the design of portable concrete conveyors in recent years is an articulating boom being offered by Morgen Manufacturing Co. on its new model heavy duty conveyor.
The hydraulically controlled boom allows contractors to keep the last 12 feet of the boom parallel with the ground, regardless of boom elevation. This feature extends the cantilever reach beyond the main axle to facilitate the spreading of concrete for roof decks and bridge decks. It also permits lowering the discharge end for more convenient spreading on grade slabs.
The swivel spout at the discharge end of the articulated boom swivels 360 degrees and tilts 90 degrees.
The articulating boom also acts as a folding boom, shortening the conveyor by twelve feet for towing. The feature is available in 48-foot and 56-foot models. The new Morgen heavy duty concrete conveyor is equipped with additional features which make concrete placing a one-man operation. Power steering of the trailing wheels from parallel to the boom to right angles to the boom permits easy movement around the job by one man, and rapid positioning of the conveyor even in tight quarters. The conveyor is self-propelled on the job or between jobs at 8 mph and can be towed without removing the front wheel. The operator's seat is removable and the steering wheel folds out of the way so ready-mix trucks can discharge from either or both sides of the hopper.
Cone rollers automatically train the belt, whether it is running forward or reverse, making it unnecessary to level the undercarriage after every move.
An improved belt wiper is backed by a spring-loaded roller to greatly increase its cleaning ability to prevent carry-back of concrete.

Massey-Ferguson Forklifts
Massey-Ferguson's line of forklifts includes the MF 2200 (left) and the MF 2500. The MF 2200 is a 4,000 pound lift machine using the basic chassis of the MF 2200 Industrial Tractor; a heavy duty box section frame is attached to the tractor to carry the heavy loads of fork lift work. The MF 2500 is a 6,000 pound lift capacity machine with a massive frame designed as an integral part of the unit; the counterweight is also a part of this integrated design. The fork carriages of both machines are equipped with four guide roller bearings to minimize the side loads on the ball bearing under extreme load conditions. Forks are pivot mounted, and the machines are available with either gas or diesel engines.
