Where can you turn when the goliaths are out-promoting you?
Turn to the International Masonry Institute (IMI)-the promotion key to masonry's future.
Large corporations spend millions of dollars to promote products that replace masonry, limit our opportunities for growth and curtail work for everyone in masory.
IMI will enable the masonry industry to effectively fight this competition. Without IMI, the masonry industry lacks the financial resources to compete.
IMI was established by joint voluntary action of the Mason Contractors Association of America and the Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers International Union of America.
IMI is guided by Trustees and Advisors representing MCAA and BM&PIU.
Its goal is to promote all masonry products and services through national advertising and publicity, and to assist local and regional groups actively promoting masonry.
Support for IMI must come from one-cent per hour contributions based on hours worked by bricklayers and masons.
The one-cent contribution to IMI must be written into local collective bargaining agreements-without delay.
Only in this way can the masonry industry pool its resources to create a fund large enough to meet the industry's promotional needs.
Masonry must promote to keep pace with the growth of the building industry, and win back some traditional markets it has lost.
We urge you to act quickly to support IMI. Its work must not be delayed.
To find out more about IMI and how you can support it, MCAA chapters and local union officers can write or telephone the MCAA executive office, and the BM&PIU office.
