and subsequently became manager of the Lexington chapter of Associated General Contractors of America.
Born in Greencastle, Ind., Mr. Abrams completed undergraduate studies at DePauw University and was graduated from Indiana University Law School. In 1938 he was elected judge of Putnam Circuit Court. At the outbreak of World War II he resigned his judgeship to enter the Army as a military government officer and served in both the European and Pacific Theaters.
Mr. Abrams was former state governor of Kiwanis International and his work in Scottish Rite Masonry won him the coveted 33rd degree in that order.
In the early days of his association with the Construction League of Indianapolis he was called upon to direct the organization of the Building Congress of Indiana. Later he was asked to undertake the direction of the Indiana General Contractors Association, now known as AGC of Indiana, and the Building Contractors Association of Indianapolis. Because of his around-the-clock activities on behalf of the Hoosier construction industry, he was known to his associates as "Mr. Construction."
