New Lift Trucks

Two new series of lift trucks including 10 different models, have been announced by Hyster Co., P.O. Box 334, Danville, III. 61832. They are the Challenger 150-275H (pictured) and Pioneer 150-200B. The latter are rough-terrain versions of the basic truck design. Capacities of the pneumatic-tire Challenger series range from 15,000-27,500 lbs. at 24 in. load center, and the Pioneers handle 15,000 or 20,000 lbs. Planetary drive axles are standard equipment on this new series. Several significant changes help to improve the operator compartment.

Lull Highlander

A new 6,000 lb. load capacity highlift has been announced by Lull Engineering Co., Inc., 3045 Highway 13, St. Paul, Minn. 55121. It handles unloading and spotting of 6,000 lb. loads from 3.5 ft. below grade to a lift height of 34 ft., and 4,500 lb. loads to a maximum height of 41½ ft. Its telescoping boom mounted on a patented boom carriage with 80 in. of horizontal travel brings new standards of versatility and performance to job site material handling and placement work.

Equipment Catalog

Blackwell Burner Co., P.O. Box 37383, 4437 W. Commerce St., Dept. L, San Antonio, Texas 78237, has announced the availability of its new Construction Equipment Catalog CR-77. The free catalog contains specifications and illustrations of masonry and material handling equipment.

Insulation Brochure

A new brochure published by Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp., Fiberglas Tower, Toledo, Ohio 43659, describes its recently introduced Commercial Wall Insulation (CWI) systems and how they reduce heat loss or gain through the envelope of nonresidential structures. Addressed to architects, contractors and building owners, the 12-page booklet, "Commercial Wall Insulation," details product features, installation methods and energy-saving cost benefits in both new construction and retrofit applications.

Scaffold Winch

Patent Scaffolding Co., 2125 Center Ave., Fort Lee, N.J. 07024, has developed a totally redesigned, portable winch for use with its "Hoist-O-Matic" mason's scaffold. Hoist-O-Matic scaffolding is designed to keep bricklayers and materials at their most efficient working height. The new winch, called the M2-2, has hardened steel gears, a friction-clutch drive, and a double brake system. It lifts a loaded Hoist-O-Matic platform in consecutive 9 in. increments along the scaffold length, enabling one man to keep raising the working platform along a scaffold run of from 100 to 200 lineal ft.

Perlite Bulletin

A new brochure detailing perlite loose fill insulation for architects, engineers and contractors is available from the Perlite Institute, Inc., 45 W. 45th St., New York, N.Y. 10036 (request Bulletin 7.14/Pe). The 4-page publication details "U" value data for insulated and uninsulated cavity wall, block wall and concrete block wall construction. The brochure also contains a guide specification. The data are presented in both English and Sl (international) units.

New Aeroil Hoist

Aeroil Products Co., 60 Wesley St., South Hackensack, N.J. 07606, has introduced its all-new 400 lb. ladder and scaffold hoist-the Giraffe 400. The unit was primarily designed for mason contractors to handle brick and block to the working scaffold. The standard unit is 28 ft. high, but additional lengths are available.

Welding Goggles

Two new flexible-frame gas welding goggles have been announced by Jackson Products, Warren, Mich. 48091. Improved ventilation is claimed, as both models have 1.4 sq. in. of open vent area, which is many times more area than conventional "button" vented goggles provide. All vents are fully baffled to prevent the straight-line entry of flying particles.

Joist Hanger

A new joist hanger from Vetra Corp., 120-G College Terrace, Los Gatos, Calif. 95030, eliminates the need for mudsills in one-story foundations and offers substantial savings in labor and lumber. The device is designed principally for tilt-up or concrete-block buildings. Fire cuts and floor-joist block are unnecessary with this unique hanger, and roof supports may be framed without ledgers. The unit features located nail holes and clearance holes, and will locate rebars with convenient tie-points for securing bars in position.

Improved Headgear

An improved version of safety headgear the slotted V-Gard cap-has been introduced by Mine Safety Appliances Co., 600 Penn Center Blvd., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15235. Combining the quick release features of a ring adapter with the convenience of a permanent attachment anchor, the new V-Gard can serve as a platform for other types of protective equipment for the head, face and ears.
