New Lull Highlander
New standards of versatility and performance for job site material handling and placement work are realized in the Lull Highlander High Lift, a new series of machines announced by Lull Engineering Co., Inc., 3045 Highway 13, St. Paul, Minn. 55121. The Highlander easily handles the unloading and spotting operations for 8,000-lb., skid-mounted packages.
The units combination of telescoping boom and 80" horizontal travel action of the boom carriage provides favorable center of gravity load positions through a range from 5' below gradeline to maximum lifting height of 34'. The forward reach extends 23' beyond the front tires. The mastless boom permits load placement at elevations where access is often limited to window openings.
A detailed and illustrated brochure is available from the company.
Graffiti Remover
A new positive solvent that completely removes graffiti from masonry without sandblasting has been introduced by Great Lakes Pollution Control Corp., P.O. Box 248, Dexter, Mich. 48130. The product, Vandax, utilizes highly potent solvents suspended in a penetrating gel that effectively degrade most paint formulas in a short time. Developed in Europe, Vandax has been tested for several years on stone, masonry and cement with "complete success," according to the manufacturer.
Glazed Masonry Units
The Burns & Russell Co., Box 6063, Baltimore, Md. 21231, has announced the addition of a new series of Spectra-Glaze glazed masonry units in a new Vari-Tone series. A unique product development, the units provide a new finishing process for Spectra-Glaze units, incorporating blends of ceramic particles in a soft satin texture of enduring earth-tone hues and a completely new line of variegated masonry wall colors for interior and exterior use.
According to the company, all the advantages of traditional Spectra-Glaze block are included thru-the-wall load-bearing construction, high insulation, permanent sanitary finish that is easy to clean and never needs refurbishing, and fire ratings.
Felker Tray Saws
A completely new line of tray saws for cutting ceramic tile and other non-metallic material has been announced by Felker Operations, Dresser Industries, Inc., 1900 S. Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance, Calif. 90509. Models of the new 810 Tray Saw Series are available with 4 or 1 h.p. electric motors. Distinctive improvements over previous models include a wider, longer cutting table with 36% more surface area.
In addition to supporting larger tile shapes, the cutting table has a deeper slot, reducing the arc of contact of circular diamond blades used on the saw. This reduced arc produces a faster cutting rate and longer blade life.
Structural Clay Products
A new 12-page, full-color catalog is available from Stark Ceramics, Inc., P.O. Box 8880, Canton, Ohio 44711, featuring the firm's complete line of structural glazed facing tile, structural textured and acoustical tile, high high brick, and utility brick. Product descriptions and typical specifications are given for each product area, along with full-color illustrations of each unit and a variety of installations.
Complete technical data such as loads, "U" values, and sound and fire resistance are included for 15 different illustrated wall configurations.
New Grout & Mortar Pump
Mayco Pump Corp. has just released the all new Mayco model C-30HD small line grout and concrete pump. The C-30HD features a heavy duty drive system that includes a larger diameter crankshaft with a specially designed heavy duty crankshaft bearing on the crank end of the shaft. The connecting rod has been modified and utilizes self-aligning bearings to reduce stress and strain.
Pump performance of the model C-30HD has been greatly improved with the larger intake valving coupled with the installation of a new return spring on the compensator piston rod that produces a smoother flow of concrete and reduces shock, pulsation and vibration. In summary, the model C-30HD is a heavier, more rugged unit with improved pump efficiency.

Power Tool Safety
The illustration here shows the safe, correct way for plugging a 3-prong power tool cord into a 2-prong receptacle. The pigtail or grounding lug should be connected to the "unpainted" screw of the grounded receptacle. Never remove the third prong from the power tool cord to facilitate plug-in.
