About Our Cover
The General American Life Insurance Office Building, designed by Johnson & Burgee, was recently chosen for a masonry craftsmanship award by the St. Louis Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. One of the structure's principal design features combines the beauty of rounded brick stairwells and interior walls with the durability of brick paving. The mason contractor for the project was Roy A. Elam Masonry, Inc., St. Louis, Mo.
