New Lull Highlift
A new straight mast, all-terrain, highlift forklift has been announced by Lull Engineering Co., Inc., 3045 Hwy. 13, St. Paul, MN 55121. The 544 "Highloader" is designed for fast load cycling on unimproved job sites with standard features that include: 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steer; planetary axles; oscillating rear axle for maximum all-wheel ground control and traction; 3-speed powershift transmission; differential mounted driveline disc brakes, and a 6-cyl. gas engine. Load capacity is 5,000 lbs. at 18' with lift heights to 30'.
Superior Damper
The new rotary control steel damper from Superior Fireplace Co., 4325 Artesia Ave., Fullerton, CA 92633, manufacturer of a wide line of mason-installed fireboxes and fireplace products, answers consumer demand for exterior fireplace controls and simplified installation. Two models of the Hi-Form Rotary Damper are constructed of 12-ga. steel, eliminating brittle cast iron parts. Both models reduce installation costs associated with ordinary dome dampers because cutting brick to form a proper throat is unnecessary. The units are fully assembled at the factory.
Safety In Colors
Sherwin-Williams Co., 101 Prospect Ave., N.W., Cleveland, OH 44115, is distributing a new brochure describing and illustrating safety colors which conform to OSHA safety standards. Described are the basic principles of color coding, the significance of each color, and the necessity for safety colors to follow traditional and easily recognizable patterns. A section explains how to mark physical hazards in color and where to use colors so that they are easily visible to everyone in a given area.
Stow Concrete Mixer
Stow Manufacturing Co., Bump Rd., Binghamton, NY 13902, is producing its CM6 Stow/Western concrete mixer, a 6 cu. ft. unit that is available with either a 7 hp Briggs & Stratton engine or a % hp electric motor. The CM6 features handwheel barrel tilt control that allows the operator to tilt the barrel and then lock it in that position, and low height for easier, faster charging. The mixer is equipped with high-speed axles that can be towed up to 55 mph.
Eye First Aid
The need for convenient, lightweight and economical eye safety stations has been met by a handy, compact unit called Eye-Lert, an emergency eyewash solution from Marion Health & Safety, Inc., 9233 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114. The unit contains a 16 oz. bottle of a sterile isotonic saline solution that helps in effectively diluting and washing away water-soluble irritants, caustics and acids from eyes. When needed, the bottle is simply removed from its station and its content poured into the affected eye. The lightweight, self contained emergency eye-care station can easily be mounted in all hazardous work areas.
Bantam Crane
A new line of Bantam rough terrain hydraulic cranes with improved overall performance is offered by Koehring Crane & Excavator Group, Milwaukee, WI 53201. The cranes incorporate design features that assure greater maneuverability and gradeability plus more lifting capacity, faster winch speeds and quicker setup. The three Bantam models have lift capacities from 15 to 20 tons. All booms are full-powered for quick setup and have automatic proportioning with a single-lever control that eliminates manual power pin sections and two-man operations. Booms are available in three lengths up to 72.
Jasco Screwjack
Jasco Industries Inc., 3785 Myrtle St., Burnaby, B.C., Canada, has introduced the Jasco Jack, a screwjack designed for use with all standard scaffold frames. The unit requires no cleaning, oiling or maintenance, and carries a safe working load of 5,000 lbs/leg. The Jack allows the user interchangeability from a base plate to a castor holder or vice versa. A positive stop is provided so that when the screwjack is extended to its maximum allowable extension, the screwjack nut cannot be turned beyond this safety stop. A stabilizer prevents wobbling of the jack within the frame leg and also steadies the jack shaft to the leg.
Morgan Concrete-handling Conveyor
A concrete-handling conveyor that mounts on the boom of a contractor's crane extends the reach of a concrete placing system. Morgen Manufacturing Co., Box 160, Yankton, SD 57078, offers booms in lengths of 62 to 90 ft. The 16" belt has a capacity of 100 cu. yds. per hour. The conveyor has telescoping action-the conveyor support basket is easily mounted to the crane base boom; it provides roller supports for the conveyor as it is extended and retracted. Hydraulic flow normally provided to the crane winch is directed to the hydraulic belt drive motor at the discharge end.
